Job summary

Chart Industries is seeking an Applications Engineer to support the field sales team from a work-from-home setup across the United States. You will review customer specs, develop competitive proposals for centrifugal turbo-expanders and related equipment, and collaborate across engineering, sales, and operations to win opportunities.

You will lead technical discussions, perform calculations, and ensure designs meet specifications while upholding safety standards.

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering or related field.
• Experience in centrifugal air/gas turbo-expander/turbo-compressor equipment.
• 3+ years bidding/proposal experience for engineered equipment.
• Ability to read technical drawings including P&IDs.
• Experience with API & ASME codes.
• Knowledge of Gas Dynamics / Systems Design is a plus.
• Strong communication with internal/external customers.
• Self-starter able to work independently.
• Proficient in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, MS Word/Excel/Project.

Responsibilities

• Review customer specs and develop proposals for centrifugal turbo-expanders, turbo-compressors, and related equipment to generate competitive proposals.
• Technical review of customer/project specs and ensure design meets requirements.
• Perform calculations and product selections to meet process needs.
• Lead technical/commercial proposal discussions with customers and refine design concepts.
• Coordinate internal proposal process across sales, engineering, PM, aftermarket, and supply chain.
• Maintain records in Salesforce and ensure KPI alignment (bookings, margins, OTD).
• Provide safety adherence and develop product knowledge.
• Support consultants, integrators, and distributors with design and specification development.
• Respond to RFIs/RFPs and identify customer needs for growth.
• Other duties as assigned.
