Job summary

VetsEZ seeks an API Authentication Developer (PIVOT) for a 100% remote role supporting a federal healthcare modernization project. Work across API management and security, AWS and Kubernetes platform engineering, IAM, DevOps, observability, and operational support.

Must reside in the continental US. The role emphasizes defining API design standards, governing OpenAPI contracts, building Kubernetes resources, and implementing secure CI/CD/GitOps workflows.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent professional experience.
• Hands-on with API management and API security including AWS API Gateway.
• Experience with identity and directory technologies (AD/LDAP/JWT).
• Experience supporting Kubernetes-based environments, API gateways, Linux, containers, networking, certificates, TLS.
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills for API, platform, security, networking issues.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills across technical teams to establish standards.

Responsibilities

• Define API design standards and review APIs for consistency and versioning.
• Govern OpenAPI contracts and validation standards.
• Build and support Kubernetes resources (Deployments, Services, Ingress, ConfigMaps, Secrets, NetworkPolicies).
• Implement CI/CD and GitOps, environment promotion, and observability.
• Implement authentication/authorization patterns (JWT, AD/LDAP, tokens, TLS/mTLS).
• Instrument environments with logs, metrics, traces, dashboards; troubleshoot Linux/container issues.
• Take on additional tasks to support project objectives.
