Job summary

VetsEZ is seeking a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer for a 100% remote role on a large federal government project. You will design, develop, and deliver secure, scalable healthcare applications supporting modernization initiatives.

Work in an Agile team using Java, Spring Boot, Node.js/TypeScript, React, AWS, and AI-enabled solutions from anywhere in the continental US. The role requires at least 6 years of software engineering experience, leadership capabilities, and strong cloud-native/AI

Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Experience as a Full Stack Software Engineer with technical leadership responsibilities.
• Experience designing distributed, cloud-native applications using modern software architecture principles.
• Experience integrating AI or Large Language Model capabilities into enterprise applications.
• Experience working in Agile software development environments.
• Strong proficiency with Java, Java EE, Java 17, and Spring Framework.
• Experience developing applications using Node.js, TypeScript, React or Angular.
• Experience building RESTful APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.
• Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services (Aurora PostgreSQL, ECS, SQS, S3).
• Experience with SQL, PostgreSQL, automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of secure software development practices and modern DevOps methodologies.
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to mentor software engineers and collaborate remotely.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable full-stack applications using Java, Java EE, Java 17, Spring Boot, Node.js/TypeScript, and React or Angular.
• Architect and implement secure, cloud-native microservices and RESTful APIs using AWS services including Aurora PostgreSQL, ECS, SQS, and S3.
• Develop AI-enabled solutions by integrating LLMs and AI APIs into healthcare applications.
• Build reliable backend services, optimize database performance, and ensure scalability, security, and maintainability.
• Implement automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and DevOps practices in a regulated environment.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions while supporting Agile processes and maintaining documentation.
• Take on additional tasks and responsibilities as needed to support team objectives and project success.
