Job summary

Pearson is seeking a Software Engineering Team Manager to lead four platform teams (Prizm, Semantics, Transformation, Delivery Services) in a remote USA-based role. You will guide engineering strategy, mentor engineers, and align with business leaders to deliver AI-powered content platforms at scale.

You will hire and develop engineers, set standards, and shape how the teams collaborate with Product and Architecture to drive platform evolution.

Qualifications

10+ years in software engineering, architecture or technical consulting.
4+ years of people management with hiring and retention impact.
Experience building teams from 0 to 1 in production environments.
Experience with enterprise stakeholders and complex org dynamics.
Production experience with large language models and AI in production.
Proven ability to shape team practice around responsible AI adoption.

Responsibilities

Set high bar for technical talent and AI-first engineering judgment.
Provide mentorship and career growth for engineers.
Staff and oversee engagements with business lines and allocate resources.
Own delivery across multiple platform roadmaps.
Qualify engagements with lines of business and manage scope.
Review architectures and code for production-readiness, reliability, security, observability, cost.
Lead technical discovery sessions and prototype solutions when needed.
Build playbooks, templates, and knowledge base for repeatable patterns.
Define OKRs and cadences to align with platform adoption goals.
Partner with Product/Architecture to translate field insights into platform improvements.
Represent the platform to senior stakeholders.
