Job summary

EY is seeking an experienced engineer to turn emerging AI capabilities into durable products. You will work end-to-end, from user conversations to prototypes and secure services, balancing speed with accessibility and maintainability.

The Challenger program emphasizes reusable tools, strong governance, and scalable services. Expect up to 50% travel and a hybrid work model across the US.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field.
• End-to-end delivery: take software from concept to launch and adoption.
• Technical breadth across frontend, backend, API, data, and cloud tech.
• Applied AI experience with LLMs, retrieval, tools, or similar AI patterns.
• Evaluation experience with automated testing and behavioral evaluation.
• Live-service ownership: telemetry, debugging, reliability, incident response, recovery.
• User-centered practice: collaborate with users, designers, and product leaders to inform decisions.
• Engineering craft: clear specs, maintainable code, thoughtful reviews, solid trade-offs.
• Travel and on-site requirements: up to 50% travel; hybrid office access.

Responsibilities

• Start with the user; understand workflows with users and domain experts.
• Test assumptions quickly with concise specs, prototypes, and small releases.
• Own complete product slices across experience, services, data, AI behavior, and integrations.
• Shape AI behavior: design instructions, context, retrieval, and tools usage.
• Build the evidence system with representative tasks and automated evaluations.
• Connect outcomes to behavior by instrumenting user journeys and measuring adoption.
• Engineer for responsible use with clear permissions, data handling, and safety checks.
• Own production quality: release incrementally, monitor, and recover from incidents.
• Make practical trade-offs balancing experience, quality, speed, reliability, and cost.
• Contribute reusable patterns and evaluation assets across the platform.
