Job summary

UnitedHealth Group is seeking a Sr. Service Designer, AI & Product Office, to map current care delivery and design future-state services around AI-enabled products.

You will work directly with local market teams and enterprise stakeholders, embedding with care teams to shadow workflows and craft service blueprints that scale across markets. You will define operational measures, shape change-management plans, and partner with product, design, and engineering to implement enterprise-ready

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in operations, process improvement, or service design, with at least 3 years within the healthcare industry.
• 2+ years within Care Delivery Organization designing AI-enabled products and services
• Experience in a large, complex matrixed organization
• Experience planning Lean, kaizen, or similar improvement events with frontline teams
• Experience using AI tools and has built/ran an agent, automation, or large language model tool
• Works as a senior individual contributor: owns hard problems end to end
• Proficiency with GitHub and AI tools, plus process mapping and analytics tools
• Demonstrated ability to work at the enterprise and market level and to discern decision ownership
• Business acumen: defines operational measures, builds baselines, analyzes results with spreadsheets/SQL
• Proven writing ability: decisions and findings are written down as the work
• Proven ability to build relationships across care teams and operations

Responsibilities

• Map & Discover: embed with local teams to shadow and map current care delivery end to end.
• Design the Service: blueprint roles, workflows, scripts, staffing, and policy changes.
• Measure, Adapt & Hand Off: define operational measures, develop change management plans, and hand off service designs to deployment.
