Job summary

UnitedHealth Group is seeking a UX Product Designer for the AI & Product Office to shape AI-enabled healthcare products. You will lead research across channels, design end-to-end experiences, and prototype AI features with real users, partnering with product, engineering, and clinical teams.

The role emphasizes building, testing, and measuring outcomes, owning the design system, and ensuring accessibility. Remote-friendly within the U.S.; some markets may require in-office presence.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of UX/UI design experience across web, mobile, or workflow-based apps.
• Healthcare industry experience in the last 3 years.
• Portfolio showing shipped work and impact after launch.
• Experience leading field research with users in their own settings.
• Ability to create and run AI-enabled design prototypes.
• Strong writing skills documenting decisions and findings.
• Ability to collaborate across product, engineering, and clinical partners.

Responsibilities

• Conduct in-situ research with patients and care teams and translate findings into stakeholder insights.
• Design end-to-end experiences across channels including EHR workflows, SMS, voice, and portals.
• Prototype AI-enabled features and run tests with real users before build.
• Own and align design system with Optum brand and accessibility standards.
• Define experience and usability measures and monitor post-launch impact.
• Collaborate with engineering, service design, and care teams to ensure enterprise readiness.
