Job summary

Optum seeks a UX Product Designer, AI & Product Office to shape AI-enabled product experiences under the Chief AI & Product Officer. You will lead research, design across channels, and prototype with AI, collaborating with product, engineering, service design and clinical partners.

This builder role operates in a small, cross-functional team embedded with local market cohorts; the office leverages enterprise AI investments and remote work from anywhere in the U.S.

Qualifications

• 7+ years designing end-to-end UX/UI for digital products with research, prototyping, testing, and delivery
• Recent healthcare experience within a large, matrixed organization
• Portfolio showing shipped work and measurable post-launch impact
• Experience leading field research with users in real settings
• Ability to use AI tools in work today and has built with agents, automation, or LLMs
• Knowledge of accessibility standards and inclusive design
• Ability to operate at enterprise and market levels and justify decisions
• Strong writing skills; documentation is the work
• Proven cross-functional relationship-building across product, engineering, and subject-matter experts
• Senior individual contributor capable of owning hard problems end-to-end

Responsibilities

• Design end-to-end experiences across channels (EHR, SMS, voice, portals)
• Design AI feature behavior: agent outputs, sources, corrections, and error handling
• Prototype with AI and test with real users before build
• Own and align design system with Optum branding and WCAG standards
