Job summary

The American College of Financial Services is seeking an Academic Advisor to support student success and retention. You will guide matriculated students through their programs, help with course selection, and connect them with college resources.

Working in a collaborative environment with faculty and staff, you will monitor progress, plan study strategies, and provide proactive outreach to encourage persistence.

Qualifications

• Three to five years of directly related experience and service background.
• Must be highly organized and capable of handling multiple course sections.
• Experience in Word, Excel, and relational database management systems (i.e., Peoplesoft, Salesforce, Brightspace, etc.).
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work with a diverse group of students of different ages.
• Flexibility in work hours expected.
• Proven ability to work independently in a remote setting.
• Ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, and staff.

Responsibilities

• Daily communication with students who need assistance on all levels of their educational journey.
• Collaborative work on proactive outreach to increase sit rates and retention.
• Monitor assigned courses and course data to conduct proactive outreach.
• Consult with students on course planning and scheduling.
• Track the advancement of students through a program to ensure persistence.
• Provide assistance to at-risk students.
• Develop study plans and strategies with students using college resources.
• Identify resources beneficial to student success and develop new resources.
• Foster relationships with instructors to better serve students.
• Analyze course level data and report on caseloads.
• Clarify program requirements, policies and procedures for students.
• Assist students in identifying institutional resources and facilitate relationships.
• Interpret and communicate academic policies and procedures.
• Stay current on program requirements and advising best practices.
