Job summary

New York Life in the US is seeking an Absence Team Leader to manage a team responsible for Short-Term Disability and related absence programs within Group Benefit Solutions.

Reporting to the Absence Claims Director, you will lead and develop the team, ensure quality and compliance, and partner with client teams to deliver exceptional service and outcomes for employees and clients alike.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree strongly preferred.
• 5+ years of experience in the Absence/Disability industry required.
• Experience leading a team of direct reports strongly preferred.
• Experience with disability and leave products preferred.

Responsibilities

• Directly lead a team of Absence Claim Managers within the Absence Claims organization.
• Coach, develop, and provide succession planning.
• Remove roadblocks and collaborate with the Absence Claims Director on challenges.
• Ensure execution and compliance of Short-Term Disability, Statutory and PFML processes.
• Analyze metrics and drive continuous improvement.
• Partner with Account Management, Sales, and internal stakeholders.
• Handle escalation for complex and sensitive absence and disability cases.
