Job summary

MetLife is seeking a Unit Leader on Global Operations to manage a team that investigates Disability and Absence claims within approved guidelines. You’ll ensure the team meets objectives in accuracy, customer centricity and expense management.

You will guide and develop team members, remove barriers, and drive improved performance through coaching, reviews, and quality monitoring, while maintaining regulatory compliance and strong stakeholder collaboration.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of disability and/or absence management experience.
• Understanding of disability/absence contractual provisions.
• Strong communication to interview claimants and set expectations.
• Knowledge of FMLA and PFML requirements.
• Strategic thinking with solid judgment and prioritization.
• Ability to partner with internal/external customers.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team handling disability/absence claims within guidelines.
• Articulate team vision and align roles to goals.
• Identify barriers in claims management and propose solutions.
• Monitor performance and provide development opportunities.
• Intervene to address gaps in individual or team performance.
• Conduct one-on-one sessions, ensure compliance with mandatory training.
• Drive claims accuracy and customer experience via quality programs.
• Ensure correct adjudication per plan/policy and regulations.
• Set up and manage concurrent claims per plan and policies.
