Job summary

MetLife’s Global Operations seeks a Unit Leader to manage a team handling Disability and/or Absence claims within approved guidelines. You’ll ensure the team meets objectives in claim management accuracy, customer centricity, and expense management.

Lead, coach, and develop the team; drive improvements in processes, and maintain 100% mandatory training compliance. This role supports a wide range of leaves including FMLA/PFML and statutory leaves.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of disability and/or absence management experience.
• Understanding of disability/absence contractual provisions.
• Strong communication skills to interview claimants effectively.
• Basic knowledge of FMLA/PFML requirements and related laws.
• Ability to give and receive feedback and coach others.
• Strategic thinking and sound judgment for decisions.
• Strong prioritization and time-management abilities.
• Ability to partner with internal/external customers.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop team members to meet objectives.
• Articulate the vision and connect roles to goals.
• Identify barriers in claims management and propose solutions.
• Monitor performance and provide coaching linked to metrics.
• Intervene to address gaps and escalate when needed.
• Conduct one-on-one sessions and ensure training compliance.
• Demonstrate strong communication with customers and partners.
• Support quality programs to improve accuracy and CX.
• Oversee concurrent claims setup per plan and policy.
