Job summary

Crisis Connections is seeking a 988 Crisis Specialist to join our 988 Crisis Services Call Team. You will provide life‑saving emotional support via chat or text, perform risk assessments, and help create safety plans for individuals in crisis.

The role is part‑time (3 days a week, 22.5 hours), fully remote with residency in WA, AZ, OH, or TX. Compensation is $26.79/hour with a $2/hour shift differential and it is union represented (OPEIU).

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED plus four years of full‑time behavioral health experience, or a Bachelor's with 1 year BH experience, or an Associate with 2 years BH experience.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to multitask across multiple software platforms in a fast‑paced environment.
• Agency Affiliated Counselor credential by end of probation; crisis intervention or suicide prevention experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide empathetic crisis intervention via chat and SMS text.
• Conduct suicide risk and behavioral health assessments and de‑escalation.
• Collaborate with on‑shift clinicians to ensure safety when higher intervention is needed.
• Develop safety and action plans with individuals in crisis.
• Connect callers to community resources and crisis partners.
• Document interactions in the electronic health record.
• Follow 988 Lifeline protocols and performance standards.
• Contribute to team goals for response times, availability and quality care.
