Job summary

The Fund for Public Health in New York City (FPHNYC) is recruiting a Relay Trainer to support the Relay program within the Bureau of Alcohol and Drug Use. You will onboard and train a team of Wellness Advocates and relay hospital staff, developing tailored sessions on data notes, overdose prevention, harm reduction, and crisis intervention.

This role requires experience in curriculum development, adult training, and supervising peers, with strong communication and organizational skills.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or 6 years of relevant commensurate experience.
Experience with curriculum development and training facilitation for adult learners, particularly around substance use and mental health issues, racial equity and social justice concepts and practices.
Experience working with and/or supervising peers.
Knowledge of substance use issues and harm reduction practice and theory, including syringe exchange, overdose prevention and education for HIV and Hepatitis C prevention.
Be able to work independently, have excellent oral and written communication and organizational skills, and be a flexible team player.
Sensitive to various ethnic, racial, and cultural backgrounds, gender identities, sexual orientations, and socioeconomic conditions.
Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, high volume environment, with proficiency in Zoom, Teams, Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

Provide onboarding, technical assistance, and training to Relay staff.
Develop, tailor and deliver individual and group training for Relay staff on topics like DAP notes, overdose prevention, and harm reduction.
Develop and deliver group training for medical staff at Relay hospitals.
Coach Wellness Advocates on training prep, planning, delivery, and engagement skills.
Identify opportunities for external organizations to educate Relay staff.
Support trainings to Bureau staff and community partners on trends and equity initiatives.
