Job summary

Services for the UnderServed in New York is seeking a Harm Reduction Specialist to engage program participants around drug and alcohol use, sexual health, and self-harm using a harm reduction approach. The role includes staff training, service coordination, and leadership in promoting the agency’s harm reduction model.

Must have at least two years in harm reduction, strong communication skills, and the ability to work with diverse populations.

Qualifications

• Experience with harm reduction and recovery-oriented services.
• Two years of experience in harm reduction.
• Fingerprint clearance by the New York State Justice Center.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assess participants' needs for services using the harm reduction model.
• Provide outreach, counseling, education, and referrals at the program site.
• Attend Harm Reduction Committee meetings and support agency initiatives.
• Deliver training on the harm reduction model to staff and participants.
• Provide service coordination and recovery-oriented support to assigned participants.
• Develop and review person-centered service plans with participants.
