Job summary

Duke Energy is offering an internship for Relay Technician path in Indiana. Interns will observe Journeymen and gain exposure to relays, SCADA control systems and safety protocols within a power plant environment.

Applicants should be enrolled in Engineering Technology or a related major, be at least 18, and have a 2.75 GPA or higher. Relocation assistance is provided where applicable and background/drug checks may be required.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in Engineering Technology or related major.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• GPA of at least 2.75.
• Valid driver's license.
• Not graduate before August 2027.

Responsibilities

• Develops understanding of the fundamentals of relaying, protective schemes, controls, alarms, distribution SCADA, communications.
• Develops basic isolation procedure writing.
• Develops understanding of how to utilize print reading, red mark process.
• Develops understanding of RTS and its use.
• Develops understanding of NERC compliance and importance for accurate data and timely completion.
• Develops basic trouble shooting skills.
• Develops the ability to think methodically and arrange activities in logical order.
• Develops basic understanding of CT and VT circuits.
