Job summary

Duke Energy is seeking Relay Technician Interns to join the Relay Construction and Maintenance team. Interns will work alongside Journeymen to learn protections, controls, and SCADA within Duke Energy's service area.

The program targets students in a two-year Engineering Technology program, with a GPA of 2.75 or higher and a plan to graduate after August 2027. A valid driver's license is required, and relocation assistance may be provided as applicable.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a two-year degree program in Engineering Technology or related field.
• Cumulative GPA 2.75 or higher.
• Must not graduate before August 2027.

Responsibilities

• Develops understanding of relaying fundamentals, protective schemes, controls, alarms, SCADA.
• Develops basic isolation procedure writing and print reading skills.
• Learn to use RTS, ensure NERC compliance and accurate data handling.
• Develops troubleshooting skills and methodical planning of activities.
