Job summary

Electric Power Systems (EPS) is seeking a Relay Technician II to perform testing, commissioning, and maintenance of protection and control systems. This role emphasizes safety, technical proficiency, and increasing independence while supporting project execution through testing, troubleshooting, and reporting.

You will work alongside Senior Relay Technicians and Engineers, developing relay protection expertise, reading diagrams, and creating detailed test and calibration documentation.

Qualifications

• Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen.
• Criminal background check required.
• Willing to overtime and travel.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• Hands-on experience with protective relays in substation environments.
• Knowledge of relay test software.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Experience with circuit breakers, transformers, switchgear.

Responsibilities

• Perform relay testing with Senior Technicians and Engineers.
• Execute element, logic, and basic functional testing of protective relays and control systems.
• Perform and evaluate in-service readings to verify system performance.
• End-to-end testing and protection system operation validation.
• Install and test communications including SCADA, GOOSE, Modbus, fiber optics.
• Analyze relay operations and event records for troubleshooting.
• Read diagrams and protection logic.
• Develop testing and isolation plans.
• Create reports and calibration documentation.
• Communicate with clients and project stakeholders.
• Coordinate work with engineers and teams.
