Job summary

AES Ohio is seeking a co-op engineer for Summer 2027 to join the Relay/Protection and Control Engineering team in Dayton, OH. You will gain practical engineering experience related to protection and control of electrical power systems.

You'll work with staff engineers on protection calculations, relay settings, and studies while developing hands-on skills in IEEE and NERC standards. This internship emphasizes rigorous academic performance and strong attention to detail.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a four-year degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
• Sophomore or higher is preferred; strong academic background helps.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work with staff engineers on electrical calculations, coordination studies, short-circuit studies, and relay logic for protective relaying settings.
• Assist in producing detailed engineering work per AES Ohio standards (IEEE, NERC, etc.).
• Complete additional assignments as determined by the supervisor.
