Job summary

The AES Corporation invites a co-op engineering student to join the AES Ohio Relay/Protection and Control Engineering team for Spring 2027, gaining hands-on experience in protection and control of electrical power systems. This internship provides practical engineering exposure and mentorship within a leading energy company.

You will work with staff engineers on calculations, coordination studies, short circuit studies, and relay logic development to protect and isolate faults, while producing

Qualifications

• A student pursuing a four-year degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
• Sophomore or higher academic standing preferred with strong academics and attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work alongside staff engineers to perform electrical calculations, coordination studies, short circuit studies, and design relay logic to develop protective relaying settings.
• Assist in producing detailed engineering in accordance with AES Ohio and relevant industry standards (IEEE, NERC, etc.).
• Complete additional assignments as determined by their supervisor.
