Job summary

AES Corporation is offering a co-op engineer opportunity for Fall 2027 on the AES Ohio Relay/Protection and Control Engineering team. The intern will gain hands-on experience in protection and control of electrical power systems while working with staff engineers.

The role focuses on electrical calculations, coordination studies, relay logic design, and adherence to IEEE and NERC standards, with additional assignments as directed by the supervisor.

Qualifications

• A student pursuing a four-year degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
• Sophomore or higher academic standing preferred; strong academics and attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Help perform electrical calculations, coordination studies, short circuit studies, and design relay logic to develop protective relaying settings.
• Assist in producing detailed engineering per AES Ohio and industry standards (IEEE, NERC).
• Complete additional assignments as determined by their supervisor.
