Job summary

The AES Corporation in Dayton, OH invites applications for a Fall 2027 co-op engineer opportunity on the AES Ohio Relay/Protection and Control Engineering team. This internship provides practical experience in protection and control of electrical power systems.

You will work with staff engineers performing calculations, studies, and relay logic design, while gaining exposure to IEEE and NERC standards and general engineering tasks relevant to transmission and distribution systems.

Qualifications

• A student pursuing a four-year degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
• An academic standing of Sophomore or higher is preferred. Additional consideration will be given to candidates with a strong academic background, exceptional attention to detail, and organizational skills.
• A proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work with staff engineers to perform electrical calculations, coordination studies, short-circuit studies, and design relay logic.
• Assist in producing detailed engineering per AES Ohio standards (IEEE, NERC, etc.).
• Complete additional assignments as determined by their supervisor.
