Job summary

AES is seeking a co-op engineer for Spring 2027 on the AES Ohio Relay/Protection and Control Engineering team. This role offers hands-on experience in the protection and control of electrical power systems, ideal for Electrical or Computer Engineering students.

You will work with staff engineers on calculations, coordination studies, short circuit studies and relay logic design, with opportunities to produce detailed engineering drawings and learn industry standards such as IEEE and NERC.

Qualifications

• Student pursuing a four-year degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
• Sophomore or higher preferred with strong academic background.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform electrical calculations, coordination studies, short circuit studies, and design relay logic to develop protective relaying settings.
• Assist in producing detailed engineering in accordance with AES Ohio and industry standards (IEEE, NERC, etc.).
• Complete additional assignments as determined by supervisor.
