Job description

You will lead and perform complex analyses for the full range of actuarial activities related to Reinsurance pricing for a line of business (LOB). You will build models and projections to enable the business to generate consistent and sound prices. Additionally, you will develop forecasts and models for reinsurance, serve as a subject matter expert and consultant to business partners across the organization, and present findings and recommendations regarding development or effectiveness.

You will report to the Director, Actuary - Reinsurance.

Position Compensation Range: $111,000.00 - $190,000.00

Pay Rate Type: Salary

Compensation may vary based on job level and geographic location. Relocation support is offered for eligible candidates.

Primary Accountabilities
  1. Develop relationships with core business partners and provide insights and solutions to address specific business concerns.
  2. Explore new concepts, statistical models, and data sources to deliver innovative solutions.
  3. Contribute to all aspects of pricing and own the recurring process.
  4. Facilitate the pricing strategy.
  5. Help develop pricing for new products and rating structures.
  6. Monitor industry and competitor trends to assess potential impacts on actuarial strategies.
  7. Analyze the profitability of assumed casualty treaty reinsurance opportunities.
  8. Maintain a portfolio analytics framework, ensuring consistent analytical standards.
  9. Create a collaborative, performance-driven environment by fostering trust, transparency, and inclusion. Mentor and develop team members.
  10. Collaborate with Underwriting to provide input on potential deals.
Specialized Knowledge, Skills, and Education Requirements
  • Experience providing customer-driven solutions, support, or service.
  • Experience analyzing assumed reinsurance treaties.
  • Experience pricing assumed casualty reinsurance treaty submissions.
  • Knowledge of complex insurance and reinsurance structures.
  • Understanding of property and casualty products, pricing, rates, and industry trends.
  • Knowledge of the global reinsurance industry, including market, regulatory constraints, judicial climate, and consumer activism.
  • Proficiency with Excel, SQL, Python, and basic programming.
  • Knowledge of catastrophe models such as RMS and AIR.
  • Expertise in advanced financial and statistical analysis techniques, including actuarial methods.
  • Understanding of data models and database design.
  • Associate or Fellow in Casualty Actuary Society (ACAS or FCAS).
