The position requires a high school diploma and prior healthcare or scheduling experience, with strong computer and communications skills.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Two years healthcare experience or related experience preferred.
• Experience working with providers and insurance companies to receive prior authorization.
• Candidates with previous scheduling experience strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and surgical procedures strongly preferred.
• Excellent computer skills and the ability to multi-task.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Prefer 3 years work experience, preferably in medical office setting or hospital.
• Microsoft Office experience such as Outlook, Word, Excel; preferably experience on an electronic medical record.

Responsibilities

Summary

Works with providers, staff, patients, referring physicians and insurance companies to obtain the appropriate referrals and prior authorizations for necessary treatment for the patient. Performs all scheduling of surgical procedures; answering, directing and prioritizing telephone calls appropriately; effective communication; and clerical duties as assigned. Greets, instructs, directs, schedules, registers, and performs check‑in duties for patients. Serves as a liaison between patients and medical support staff. Establish and maintain a positive attitude with patients, visitors, and fellow employees by helping each other in areas when needed. Demonstrates knowledge of the age‑specific competencies and the skills necessary to provide services appropriate to the age and demographic served.
