Indiana University Health is seeking a patient services specialist for the Children’s Therapy Center in Bloomington, IN. You will be the first contact for patients and families, handling registration, scheduling, and basic insurance verification to support access to care.

Responsibilities include verifying benefits, obtaining prior authorizations, and coordinating with payers while delivering friendly, accurate service across multiple clinics in the South Region as needed.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 0-3 years of Customer Service/Medical experience preferred.
  • Experience in insurance verification, patient registration and medical terminology is a plus.
  • Basic proficiency in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, TEAMS) desired.

Responsibilities

  • Register patients and schedule appointments across clinics.
  • Verify insurance, obtain prior authorizations and coordinate benefits.
  • Resolve patient accounts with accuracy and timeliness.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to patients and families.

Job description

Schedule: Day shift, 32 hours per week; this will be a rotating schedule M-F
Primary location is the Children’s Therapy Center in Bloomington, IN, with support provided to other clinics throughout the South Region as needed.
About the role:

This role serves as the first point of contact for patients and families, managing registration, scheduling, insurance verification, prior authorizations, and account resolution while delivering exceptional customer service. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and able to support operations across multiple clinic locations in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Additional Responsibilities:
  • This position oversees patient flow from point of entry to destination and ensures timely, accurate and professional services.
  • This position is responsible for timely and accurate resolution of patient’s accounts.
  • Responsibilities may include but are not limited to obtaining specific information to generate accurate financial and demographic records, insurance verification, prior authorization, and coordination of benefits.
  • Communicates with payers and patients to achieve accurate financial information.
  • Responsible for accurate Registration of patients, Scheduling recurring appointments, answers incoming calls and directs patient and visitors appropriately.
  • Participates in operational aspects of the department and maintains performance improvement activities as required.
  • Participates in all infection control, department equipment training, regulatory compliance, organizational safety and fire safety programs.
  • Orders, distributes and maintains designated and appropriate inventory of department related supplies.
  • The position adheres to departmental productivity, quality and service standards in support of operational goals.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma/GED is required.
  • 0-3 years Customer Service/Medical experience desired.
  • Minimum one-year medical office experience or combination of extensive customer service work experience and education in insurance verification, patient registration and medical terminology preferred.
  • Requires basic proficiency in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, TEAMS)
