Job summary

UHC United Hospital Center in Bridgeport, WV, seeks a capable registration specialist to support patient intake and pre-registration activities in the rehab setting.

The role handles demographic and insurance information, verifies coverage, schedules appointments, and coordinates with therapists while ensuring accuracy and compliance with admission standards. Strong clerical skills and CPR are required; training on electronic scheduling will be provided.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Current CPR certification is required upon hire or must be completed within the 90-day probation period.

Responsibilities

• Obtain demographic and insurance information accurately for pre-registration/intake processes.
• Register rehab series patients per admission standards.
• Determine eligibility and benefits for requested services; verify insurance coverage and communicate results to the patient.
• Obtain insurance authorization promptly and communicate visits dates with treating therapists.
• Monitor authorized visits and notify therapists when additional authorization is required.
• Communicate authorization numbers and dates with the business office.
• Assist in denial management by seeking retro-authorization and communicating results to the business office.
• Obtain physician signatures for Medicare Plan of Care Certification/Re-certification and monitor status.
• Schedule patients and maintain therapist schedules in the electronic scheduling system.
• Manage patient files and hard-copy forms as directed.
• Obtain physician orders as needed.
• Perform other clerical duties as directed.
• Serve outpatient reception duties; greet patients professionally and notify therapists of arrivals.
• Direct self-pay patients to the Patient Representative for charity care if eligible.
• Order base non-salary office supplies within budget guidelines.
