Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• State criminal background check and Federal (if applicable), as required for regulated areas.
• Experience with patient registration and billing is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Obtain demographic, billing, and insurance information and enter into registration and billing systems; scan insurance cards and photo IDs.
• May complete pre-certification and authorizations.
• Prepare consent forms and notices; obtain signatures and electronic consent.
• Collect deposits, co-payments, deductibles, and patient payments; document in systems.
• Prepare armband for patient identification; balance daily receipts and cash drawer.
• Follow up on accounts as indicated by system flags.
• Initiate screenings and obtain information for coverage; complete relevant paperwork.
• Perform medical necessity checks and Advanced Beneficiary Notice as needed.
• Schedule, reschedule, or cancel patients according to workflows.
• Check order completeness and validate against scheduled service.
