Qualifications

• Ability to accurately utilize applicable computer software and equipment for access processing and follow time procedures.
• Knowledge of medical insurance requirements for payment and basic knowledge of covered services.

• Basic knowledge of medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Obtain demographic, billing and insurance information from patient/family and enter into registration and billing systems; provide information on insurance and hospital procedures.
• Complete pre-certification and authorizations when required.
• Prepare consent forms and privacy notices, obtain signatures and electronic consent.
• Collect deposits, co-payments, deductibles and patient liabilities; document payments.
• Prepare patient armbands and balance daily receipts; follow up on system flags.
• Initiate screenings and collect information for coverage and paperwork.
• Perform medical necessity checks and advance beneficiary notices as needed.
• Schedule, reschedule, or cancel patients according to hospital workflows.
• Check order completeness and validate orders against scheduled services.
