Job summary

Exponent is seeking a Regulatory Scientist for our Chemical Regulation & Food Safety practice in the Washington, DC area. You will join a multidisciplinary team to provide project management, regulatory and technical support to consultants in chemical regulation and food safety.

The role requires a BS degree (MS/PhD preferred) with experience in TSCA and environmental regulations, plus strong communication and writing skills.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree is required. M.S. or Ph.D. in a science-related field preferred.
• Experience with TSCA or other environmental regulations.
• Must be detail oriented, able to work independently, and manage time effectively.
• Excellent communication, writing, editing and proofreading skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment.
• Experience with project management, budget tracking, and invoicing is a plus.
• Experience with AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Managing and tracking client projects, deliverables, and budgets.
• Collaborating with internal project teams on client projects, tasks, and budgets.
• Interacting with clients as well as EPA and State regulators.
• Gaining a strong understanding of chemical regulatory policy including TSCA.
• Knowledge of product stewardship principles and applying that across industries and products.
• Preparing and submitting regulatory approval documents.
• Providing regulatory and technical review and quality control support for TSCA and product stewardship projects.
