Job summary

Exponent is seeking a Regulatory Scientist for our Chemical Regulation & Food Safety practice in the Washington, DC office. You will provide project management, FIFRA regulatory and technical assistance, and program support to the consultants in the Chemical Regulation and Food Safety practice.

The role requires a BS in a science field, experience with TSCA and other environmental regulations, and strong communication and writing skills.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree is required. M.S. or Ph.D. in a Science related field is preferred.
• Experience with TSCA and other environmental regulations.
• Experience in a scientific, research, or consulting environment is a plus.
• Must be detail oriented, able to work independently, and manage time effectively.
• Excellent communication, writing, editing and proofreading skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment.
• Strong ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects with competing deadlines.
• Experience using AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot, with an understanding of their capabilities, limitations, and appropriate applications.
• Strong working knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat required.

Responsibilities

• Managing and tracking client projects, project deliverables and budgets
• Collaborating with internal project teams to discuss client projects, tasks, deliverables and budgets
• Interacting with clients as well as EPA and State regulators
• Gaining a strong understanding of chemical regulatory policy including TSCA
• Knowledge of product stewardship principles and the ability to apply that knowledge across a range of industries and product types.
• Preparing and submitting regulatory approval documents
• Providing regulatory and technical review and quality control support for TSCA and product stewardship projects
