Job summary

Exponent is seeking a Regulatory Scientist for its Chemical Regulation & Food Safety practice in the Washington, DC area. You will provide FIFRA regulatory support, TSCA interpretation, and project management for client projects with defined budgets and schedules.

A BS in a science field is required; MS/PhD preferred. Candidates should have TSCA and environmental regulation experience, strong written and oral communication, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a collaborative

Qualifications

• B.S. degree is required. M.S. or Ph.D. in a Science related field is preferred
• Experience with TSCA and other environmental regulations
• Experience in a scientific, research, or consulting environment is a plus
• Must be detail oriented, able to work independently, and manage time effectively
• Excellent communication, writing, editing and proofreading skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment
• Strong ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects with competing deadlines
• Experience using AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot, with an understanding of their capabilities, limitations, and appropriate applications.
• Strong working knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat required
• Exposure to sensitive information will necessitate considerable use of tact, diplomacy, discretion, and judgment
• Experience with project management, budget tracking, and invoicing a plus
• Strong commitment to professional development
• Entrepreneurial spirit is a plus

Responsibilities

• Managing and tracking client projects, project deliverables and budgets
• Collaborating with internal project teams to discuss client projects, tasks, deliverables and budgets
• Interacting with clients as well as EPA and State regulators
• Gaining a strong understanding of chemical regulatory policy including TSCA
• Knowledge of product stewardship principles and the ability to apply that knowledge across a range of industries and product types.
• Preparing and submitting regulatory approval documents
• Providing regulatory and technical review and quality control support for TSCA and product stewardship projects
