Job summary

Howard County Government is seeking a skilled Technical Sub Professional to support the Inspections and Enforcement division, handling licensing, inspections, and the permits program.

You will review engineering certifications, coordinate inspections, and manage Notices of Violation and related correspondence in the web-based permitting system, while delivering customer service to residents and contractors.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Three years related experience
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel)

Responsibilities

• Maintains detailed tracking of the Division’s civil citations, subpoenas, and court cases, coordinating with inspectors, supervisors, and the Offices of Law and Finance.
• Prepares weekly status reports on Notices of Violation for Division meetings.
• Processes, logs, and records inspection holds and releases for Stop Work Orders in the computer database, notifying all appropriate divisions.
• Responds to complex telephone inquiries regarding building, plumbing, grading, HVACR, electrical, sign, rental housing, and taxi permit regulations and inspection procedures.
• Reviews daily lists of issued permits to ensure all required attachments are complete and available for inspectors in the web-based permitting system.
• Coordinates the receipt of additional permit documentation when necessary.
• Schedules inspections and processes invoices for quarterly Building, Fire, Plumbing, and Electrical Master Permit inspections in the web-based permitting system.
• Reviews engineering certifications, wall location surveys, letters, and other documents for completeness and accuracy.
• Composes, prepares, and updates form letters, Notices of Violation, reinspection fee letters, and procedures.
• Edits, formats, and types correspondence from handwritten drafts.
• Prepares monthly staff meeting minutes and weekly statistical reports.
