Job summary

Ascension’s Dell Children's Medical Center in Austin, TX is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to join the Pediatric Respiratory Care team on the night shift. The role focuses on delivering advanced respiratory therapy, developing care plans, and supporting patients and families.

You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team, monitor equipment, and respond to emergencies while pursuing professional growth and ongoing education within a supportive Catholic health system.

Qualifications

• BLS certification required or within 1 month of hire.
• Texas Respiratory Care Practitioner credential prior to hire date.
• NBRC Registered credential prior to hire date.
• Advanced Life Support certification preferred.
• Neonatal Resuscitation certification preferred.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop tailored care plans for patients with respiratory insufficiencies.
• Deliver advanced respiratory therapy and manage life-support equipment.
• Monitor real-time clinical parameters and adjust therapies.
• Educate patients and families for long-term recovery.
• Lead emergency resuscitation and provide airway life-support when needed.

How you'll make an impact in this role

• Develop tailored care plans: Evaluate patients presenting with respiratory insufficiencies to establish individual, diagnosis-based treatment strategies.
• Deliver advanced respiratory therapy: Administer complex care modalities, manage specialized life-support equipment and monitor real-time clinical parameters to ensure patient stability.
• Optimize clinical outcomes: Continually evaluate medication efficacy and therapy response, adjusting care plans in close coordination with the multidisciplinary care team.
• Empower patients and families: Educate patients and caregivers on managing their conditions while connecting them with community support resources to foster long‑term recovery.
• Lead emergency resuscitation: Respond swiftly to urgent resuscitation codes, delivering immediate critical airway and life‑support interventions.

What Minimum Requirements You'll Need

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Respiratory Care Practitioner credentialed from the Texas Respiratory Care Practitioners Certification Program obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
• Respiratory Therapist specializing in Registered credentialed from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
• Advanced Life Support preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Certification specializing in Neonatal Resuscitation credentialed from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) preferred.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Education

• High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required
