Job summary

Mercy is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to perform direct patient care in all aspects of respiratory therapy, following physician orders. You will consult with physicians on therapy effectiveness and act as an advanced resource for nursing staff. Duties adapt to patient needs and unit priorities.

Qualifications include graduate of a CoARC-approved program, active RCP licensure, and NBRC RRT credential; PALS is needed for ER, ACLS is preferred, with a willingness to work 7pm–7am shifts.

Qualifications

• Graduate of CoARC approved Respiratory Care program.
• Current NBRC RRT credential.
• Active state licensure as Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP).
• PALS required for Emergency Room staff.
• ACLS preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care in all aspects of respiratory care per physician orders.
• Counsels physicians on the effectiveness of therapy and serves as an advanced resource for physicians and nursing staff.
• Performs duties as assigned to support patient care and respiratory services.

7 pm- 7 am

Eligible for shift differential

Qualifications

• Education: Graduate of CoArc approved Respiratory Care program.
• Licensure: Meets state licensure requirements and has a current Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license.
• Experience: None.
• Certifications: Hold the Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential awarded by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC). For co-workers who work in the Emergency Room PALS is required.
• Other: Physical demands are attached plus push, pull, and grip up to 50 lbs. Plus, pinch up to 10 lbs., kneel, crouch, and crawl minimally. Equipment Used: All appropriate respiratory care devices.
• Preferred Education: Acute Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
• Preferred Experience: Prefer critical care experience.
