Job summary

Johns Hopkins Medicine seeks a qualified Registered Nurse to join the inpatient psychiatry and day hospital unit at Johns Hopkins Hospital-Bloomberg. You will provide direct nursing care to pediatric and adolescent patients, including those with medical comorbidities, and participate in crisis intervention and after-care scheduling.

Requirements include an Associate degree in Nursing, active Maryland or Compact RN license, BLS CPR, and RN experience in pediatric/psychiatric settings.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Nursing required.
• Active Maryland or Compact RN license required.
• BLS CPR certification required.
• RN work experience required; pediatric and/or psychiatric RN experience preferred.
• Enrollment in an accredited BSN/MSN program within 1 year of hire and completion within 4 years of hire is acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Provide crisis intervention, stabilization, and after-care planning for patients.
• Care for patients with feeding tubes, IVs, and catheterization needs.
• Collaborate with care teams to manage safety and treatment plans.
• Support patients aged 5-17 in inpatient psychiatry and day hospital settings.

Job Details:

The Johns Hopkins Hospital-Bloomberg 12has a 15-bed acute care inpatient psychiatry unit and a 12-slot psychiatric Day Hospital for voluntary patients aged 5-17. Most commonly seen diagnoses include mood disorders, anxiety, psychosis, bipolar and adjustment disorders. In addition to mental illness, patients may also have medical co-morbidities: asthma, diabetes, sickle cell, cancer, etc. You would care for patients with feeding tubes, IVs, and who need to be catheterized. You would provide crisis intervention, stabilization, and appropriation of after-care appointments.

Qualifications:

• Associate degree in Nursing required
• Applicants with an Associate’s degree in nursing from an accredited nursing program may be considered, provided they are enrolled in an accredited BSN/MSN program within 1 year of hire and complete the degree within 4 years of hire
• Active Maryland or Compact RN license is required
• BLS CPR certification required
• RN work experience required; pediatric and/or psychiatric RN experience preferred
