Job summary

UP Health System - Portage is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) in OB for a temporary 90-day need. The position offers varied 12-hour shifts (7-7) with PRN / 0.001 FTE or as needed, providing essential obstetric care and support to patients and families.

As an OB RN, you will perform plan of care interventions, document care, monitor patient conditions, assist with activities of daily living, and collaborate with the care team.

Qualifications

• Current Michigan RN license.
• Associate's degree in nursing; bachelor's degree preferred.
• BLS-HCP certification.
• 1–2 years OB nursing experience.
• NRP, AWHONN, EFM, STABLE and PEOP certifications (within 6 months).
• Annual influenza vaccination or declination.

Responsibilities

• Performs plan of care interventions, including medication administration and other OB care.
• Documents patient care and monitors patient condition with care team.
• Assists with activities of daily living and patient education.
• Collaborates with disciplines for transfers, discharges and referrals.
• Advocates for patients’ physical and emotional well-being.

How you’ll contribute

• Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.
• Documents patient care given.
• Monitors, records, and communicate patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
• Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
• Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
• Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
• Performs other job duties as assigned

What we’re looking for

Applicants should have a current Michigan RN license and possess an associate's degree from an accredited nursing school (bachelor's preferred).

Additional requirements include:

• Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLS-HCP)
• One-two years minimum OB experience required
• NRP, AWHONN, EFM, STABLE and PEOP (within 6 months)
• Annual influenza vaccination or declination required
