Job summary

UP Health System - Portage in Michigan is seeking an OB RN Educator to coordinate and deliver evidence-based education for obstetric care. You will apply nursing process to OB patients while supporting clinical standards and staff development.

The role requires an active Michigan RN license, ADN (BSN preferred), BLS-HCP and NRP, and at least two years in acute care with OB experience. Leadership skills are a plus and opportunities for ongoing education are provided.

Qualifications

• Current Michigan RN license.
• Associate degree in nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor's preferred.
• BLS-HCP and NRP certifications required.
• Two years of acute care experience; OB experience preferred.
• Leadership experience preferred.
• AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring, STABLE, NRP Course Instructor credentials welcome.

Responsibilities

• Provides and coordinates care of the OB patient using nursing process.
• Identifies and resolves issues affecting the delivery of clinical services.
• Assists with performance improvement studies and PI initiatives.

Your Responsibilities

• Provides and coordinates care of the OB patient using nursing process.
• Identifies and resolves issues affecting the delivery of clinical services.
• Assist with performance improvement studies and assist with implementation of PI initiatives.
• Serves as a resource to staff and external contacts on issues related to patient care, patient flow and clinical standards, policies and procedures.
• Schedules and performs routine safety drills as required by CMS standards for unit staff and other appropriate departments that could potentially care for patients affiliated in the Family Birthing Center
• Participate in state and national initiatives related to maternity care, bringing evidence-based ongoing education to the department and staff.
• Performs other job duties as assigned

What we're looking for

Applicants should have a current Michigan RN license and possess an associate's degree from an accredited nursing school (bachelor's preferred). Additional requirements include:

• Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLS-HCP)
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
• Two years of acute care experience
• OB experience
• Leadership experience (preferred)
• AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring, STABLE (within 6 months)
• NRP Course Instructor (within 1 year of hire or transfer)
• AWHONN Fetal Monitoring Course Instructor (within 1 year of hire or transfer)
• Annual influenza vaccination or declination required
