Job summary

UP Health System - Portage is seeking an OB RN for a 90-day temporary assignment with varied 12-hour shifts (7-7). This PRN/0.001 FTE role requires Michigan RN licensure and OB experience. Join a team dedicated to delivering high-quality maternal care and patient education.

Preferred candidates hold an associate degree in nursing, BLS-HCP certification, and OB-specific certifications (NRP, AWHONN, EFM, STABLE, PEOP) within 6 months of hire. Vaccination requirements apply.

Qualifications

  • Current Michigan RN license.
  • Associate's degree in nursing required; Bachelor's preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs plan of care interventions including medication administration and other medical care.
  • Documents patient care to care team and family.
  • Monitors and communicates patient condition to care team and family.
  • Assists patients with activities of daily living.
  • Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate patient care including transfers and discharges.
  • Provides patient/family education appropriate to age and condition.
  • Acts as advocate for patient wellbeing.

How You'll Contribute
  • Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.
  • Documents patient care given.
  • Monitors, records, and communicate patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
  • Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
  • Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
  • Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
  • Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
  • Performs other job duties as assigned

What We're Looking For

Applicants should have a current Michigan RN license and possess an associate's degree from an accredited nursing school (bachelor's preferred).

Additional Requirements Include
  • Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLS-HCP)
  • One-two years minimum OB experience required
  • NRP, AWHONN, EFM, STABLE and PEOP (within 6 months)
  • Annual influenza vaccination or declination required
