Job summary

Sovah Health – Danville, part of Lifepoint Health, is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) in Medical Oncology. The role supports compassionate, high-quality cancer care in a teaching-focused environment.

Schedule: Monday–Thursday, with an on-site team dedicated to patient-centered treatment. The position offers an hourly range of $33.19–$44.81, with benefits and opportunities for professional growth through Lifepoint’s network.

Qualifications

• Active Virginia RN license (single-state) or compact license.
• Associate's degree in nursing required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification (BLS) required.
• Experience in outpatient settings, infusions, and chemo administration preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs plan-of-care interventions including medication administration and clinical treatments.
• Documents patient care accurately and timely.
• Monitors and communicates patient condition to the care team, physicians, patients, and families.
• Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate transfers, discharges, and referrals.
• Delivers age- and culture-appropriate education to patients and families.
• Advocates for patients’ physical and emotional well-being.
• Participates in performance improvement and continuing education; may cover on-call shifts.

How you'll contribute

A Registered Nursewho excels in this role:

• Performs plan-of-care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and other medical care activities.
• Documents patient care provided in a timely and accurate manner.
• Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition to the care team, physicians, patients, and families.
• Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate care (transfers, discharges, referrals, psychosocial/spiritual support).
• Assesses learning needs and delivers age/culture-appropriate patient/family education.
• Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
• Participates in performance improvement and required continuing education.
• Provides quality patient care and works other shifts/units as needed; may take on-call assignments.

What we're looking for

Applicants should have an active Virginia RN license (single-state) or compact license. If relocating, licensure must be updated to the new Primary State of Residence (PSOR) before employment begins. Associate's degree in nursing required.
