Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing.
• Registered Nurse license in the state of Illinois.
• BLS, ACLS, PALS certification (or willing to obtain within 6 months).
• Prior Med/Surg or ICU nursing experience preferred.

• Provide safe, effective patient care using the nursing process.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
• Supervise LPNs, aides, and ancillary staff; review and sign off on documentation.
• Participate in discharge planning and patient/family education using teach-back.

This role plays a vital part in delivering safe, high quality, patient centered care across the lifespan. Med/Surg nurses at FMH provide direct patient care, support patient and family education, and collaborate closely with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to ensure coordinated, effective care. The RN is responsible for the delivery of patient care through the nursing process. This includes patient assessment, teaching, and coordination of care with ancillary personnel, while maintaining the highest standards of practice.
