Job summary

Fairfield Memorial Hospital is seeking a compassionate Registered Nurse to join our Med/Surg team. The RN will deliver safe, high-quality, patient-centered care across the lifespan using the nursing process.

Responsibilities include medication administration, patient education, and coordination with interdisciplinary teams in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

  • Required ADN in Nursing and IL RN license; BLS/ACLS/PALS certification or willingness to obtain within 6 months.
  • Preferred BSN; TNCC certification.

Responsibilities

  • Provide safe, effective patient care using the nursing process.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
  • Perform emergency and resuscitative treatment as needed.
  • Supervise LPNs, aides, and ancillary staff; review and sign off on documentation.
  • Participate in orientation of new personnel and ongoing continuing education.
  • Engage in discharge planning and patient/family education using teach-back.
  • Maintain accurate computerized charting and medication administration records.
  • Demonstrate professionalism in dress, hygiene, and patient interactions.
  • Participate in Quality Management/Performance Improvement activities.

This role plays a vital part in delivering safe, high‑quality, patient‑centered care across the lifespan. Med/Surg nurses at FMH provide direct patient care, support patient and family education, and collaborate closely with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to ensure coordinated, effective care. The RN is responsible for the delivery of patient care through the nursing process. This includes patient assessment, teaching, and coordination of care with ancillary personnel, while maintaining the highest standards of practice.
