Job summary

Fairfield Memorial Hospital in Fairfield, IL, is seeking a compassionate Registered Nurse for our Float Pool to support multiple units and ensure high-quality patient care. The RN will manage patient care across Med‑Surg, ICU, Emergency, Skilled Care, and outpatient settings, while guiding LPNs and Nursing Assistants and assisting with staff orientation and education.

The position requires ADN with IL RN licensure and current BLS/ACLS/PALS certifications, plus 3–5 years of clinical experience.

Qualifications

  • ADN from an accredited nursing program and Illinois RN license.
  • Current BLS/ACLS/PALS certifications required.
  • 3–5 years of clinical nursing experience.
  • Experience in Float Pool or multiple units preferred.
  • Ability to teach and mentor staff.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver safe, evidence-based care across units based on acuity.
  • Supervise LPNs, Nursing Assistants, and Desk Secretaries.
  • Support orientation and ongoing staff education.
  • Document care in computerized EHR systems.
  • Collaborate with physicians and departments to improve outcomes.

The Registered Nurse – Float Pool provides management of patient care across all hospital nursing units including house supervisor. Assignments are determined based on patient acuity and census. The RN supports safe, evidence‑based nursing practice in alignment with departmental policies and procedures, collaborating with ancillary departments to ensure comprehensive patient care.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESDeliver safe, evidence based patient care across multiple hospital units based on acuity and census.Assign and oversee duties of LPNs, Nursing Assistants, and Desk Secretaries.Assist with orientation and training of new staff; support ongoing staff education.Participate in code management, fire drills, and disaster response plans.Collaborate with physicians and ancillary departments to improve patient outcomes.Accurately document care and operate computerized EHR systems.Provide patient teaching and support discharge planning.Maintain current clinical skills to competently care for patients in Med‑Surg, ICU, Emergency, Skilled Care, Surgery Outpatient Infusion, and outpatient clinic settings.Protect patient privacy, ensure proper specimen handling, and administer medications safely.Demonstrate professionalism, flexibility, and effective communication in high‑stress environments.Carry out physician orders and report changes in patient condition promptly.Perform other duties as assigned in support of hospital mission and patient care.COMPENSATION: $40.00 per hour + $7.00 float incentive per hourSCHEDULE: Variable; Availability for All ShiftsBENEFITS403(b) Retirement PlanPaid Leave for All Workers Act Leave (1 hour for every 40 hours worked)WHAT FMH HAS TO OFFERFairfield Memorial Hospital is a mission‑focused critical access hospital dedicated to providing exceptional care to the patients and families we serve, with a strong commitment to improving the health and well‑being of our community through compassionate service, clinical excellence, and a supportive culture that empowers employees to do their best work.
