Job Summary and Qualifications

• Determine the health status and needs of patients through interpretation of health data and preventive practices in collaboration with patients and healthcare team members.
• Provide individualized, goal-directed nursing care using a systematic approach.
• Perform comprehensive nursing assessments regarding the health status of the patient.
• Formulate a nursing care plan based on diagnoses and identified problems.
• Implement nursing care within the RN’s scope of practice, complying with applicable laws.
• Develop and implement teaching plans for patients concerning health promotion, maintenance, and restoration.
• Provide education, emotional support, and age-specific care to foster partnership with patients and families.
• Care for multiple patients through direct care or delegation to team members.
• Evaluate patient responses and outcomes to interventions.
• Use critical thinking to analyze clinical data and current literature for decision-making.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing school.
• BSN required within 24 months if hired after 6/1/12.
• Minimum of two years’ experience in a critical care hospital within the last three years.
• Ability to care for PCU, Tele, and Med Surg patients as requested.
• Ability to assume Charge duties as required.
• Current RN license in Texas or a compact state.
• Current BLS and ACLS certification.
