Job summary

UP Health System - Marquette is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to join the UNIT on nights in a 0.9 FTE 12-hour shift. A $7,500 sign-on bonus is offered based on meeting eligibility requirements.

The RN provides plan of care, documents care, monitors patient status, assists with activities of daily living, and coordinates transfers and discharge with the team. Michigan RN license and ADN are required; BSN preferred. BLS-HCP is required.

Qualifications

• State of Michigan RN license and ADN (BSN preferred).
• Associate degree from accredited nursing program; bachelor's degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan of care including medication administration and treatments.
• Document patient care provided.
• Monitor and communicate patient condition to the care team.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living.
• Coordinate transfers, discharges, referrals, and psychosocial support needs.
• Educate patient and family; advocate for patient wellbeing.

More About Our Team

The staffing pool provides RN staffing coverage to our med/surg, neuro/ortho/peds, rehab, and cardiac units. Staffing pool nurses are exceptional nurses who easily adapt to change and can accommodate many different working environments. After one year working in the staffing pool, nurses can train to specialty units such as ICU and the ED. Staffing pool is extremely rewarding and offers a multitude of learning opportunities to enhance nursing skills and critical thinking. One year nursing experience preferred.

How You Will Contribute

A Registered Nurse (RN) who excels in this role:

• Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.
• Documents patient care given.
• Monitors, records, and communicate patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
• Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral, and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
• Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
• Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.

What We Are Looking For

Applicants should have a state of Michigan RN license and possess an associate degree from an accredited nursing school (bachelor's degree preferred).
