Job summary

MetroHealth Main Campus - Glick Emergency Department in Cleveland seeks a registered nurse to join its Level 1 Trauma Center team. You will provide patient assessments, triage, trauma care, IV insertions, blood draws, and catheterizations while delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in a fast-paced environment.

Must hold Ohio RN license, BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NIHSS milestones; PRN requires one year of experience. Rotating weekends and holidays; 7p-7a shifts on a team-focused ED.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
• Current RN license in Ohio.
• Current AHA BLS, ACLS or obtained within 90 days of hire.
• Current PALS or obtained within 6 months of hire.
• Current TNCC or obtained within 1 year of hire.
• Current NIHSS certification or obtained within 90 days of hire.
• PRN requires 1 year of RN experience
• PRN must possess all required certifications upon hire

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive patient assessments, monitoring and documentation in a Level 1 Trauma ED.
• Perform triage, stabilize patients and coordinate rapid trauma care.
• Administer medications, start IVs and collect specimens as needed.
• Collaborate with LPNs, paramedics, PCNAs and providers to deliver care.

Shift: 7p-7a; Rotating weekends, Rotating holidays

Primary Patient Population:

• Acutely ill pediatric to adult patients
• Level 1 Trauma Center

Primary skills utilized/learned:

• Patient Assessments
• Patient Triage
• Trauma care
• IV insertion, blood draws, Foley catheter insertion
• Time management, critical thinking, delegating

Personnel RN will work with:

• LPNs, Paramedics, Patient Care Nursing Assistants (PCNAs), Behavioral Observers (BO), Providers

Number of beds on unit:

• 93 beds (Clinical Decision Unit (CDU) included)
• 10 Trauma Bays
• 80k+ patient visits annually

• Level 1 Trauma Center
• Lantern Award
• Stroke Certified

Required Qualifications:

• Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing (or a program seeking accreditation).
• Current Registered Nurse licensure in the State of Ohio
• Current AHA BLS, ACLS or obtained within 90 days of hire.
• Current PALS certification or obtained within 6 months of hire.
• Current TNCC certification or obtained within 1 year of hire.
• Current NIHSS Stroke certification or obtained within 90 days of hire.
• PRN requires 1 year of relevant RN experience
• PRN must possess all required certifications upon hire

Preferred Qualifications:

• BSN
• Professional Certification recognized by the Magnet Association
• NRP Certification
