Job summary

UP Health System - Marquette is seeking an experienced Assistant Manager (RN) to oversee the afternoon OR team and support surgical services. This full-time role requires a Michigan RN license and perioperative leadership experience, with CNOR and BLS preferred.

The role emphasizes staffing coordination, patient throughput, and hands-on patient care to ensure high-quality surgical outcomes within a collaborative OR environment.

Qualifications

  • Michigan RN license and an associate degree from an accredited nursing school; bachelor's degree preferred.
  • BLS-HCP required; 2 years perioperative experience preferred; 3 years leadership experience preferred; CNOR preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate afternoon OR staff.
  • Coordinate changes to the OR schedule with anesthesia team and surgeons.
  • Communicate with PAR and PACU nursing staff to improve patient throughput.
  • Complete patient and family rounding and service recovery as needed.
  • Adjust staffing to account for add-on or cancelled cases.
  • Provide patient care as needed to support surgical needs.

How you will contribute
  • Supervise and coordinate afternoon OR staff.
  • Coordinates changes to the OR schedule with the anesthesia team and surgeons.

What we are looking for

Applicants should have a state of Michigan RN license and possess an associate degree from an accredited nursing school (bachelor's degree preferred).

Additional requirements include
  • Basic Life SupportHealth Care Provider (BLS-HCP)
  • 2 years Perioperative Experience (Preferred)
  • 3 years Leadership Experience (Preferred)
  • CNOR (Certified Nurse Operating Room) (Preferred)
