Job summary

UP Health System - Marquette is hiring an OR RN for the Surgery team in Marquette, MI. This full-time role is 0.75 FTE (60 hours per pp) with a 6x10-hour shift schedule, including rotating weekends and holidays.

A $7,500 sign-on bonus is available for qualified applicants. You will perform plan of care, document patient care, monitor and communicate patient status, assist with activities of daily living, and collaborate across disciplines to deliver safe, high-quality perioperative care.

Qualifications

  • Current Michigan RN license.
  • Associate degree in Nursing or BSN preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration and other medical care.
  • Documents patient care given.
  • Monitors and communicates patient condition to care team, physician, patient, and family.
  • Assists patients with activities of daily living and ambulation.
  • Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including transfers and discharges.
  • Provides patient/family education appropriate to age and condition.

More about our team

Our high‑performing Operating Room (OR) team is a collaborative, fast‑paced department. OR nurses work side‑by‑side with surgical teams to deliver safe, high‑quality care, supported by strong communication, teamwork, and a shared commitment to excellent patient outcomes. The OR features 12 procedure rooms and offers 8, 10, and 12‑hour shift options based on unit needs. Call requirements include one night per week and one weekend per month. Weekend and holiday rotations are established and mapped out annually, providing predictability and work‑life balance.

How you'll contribute
  • Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.
  • Documents patient care given.
  • Monitors, records, and communicate patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
  • Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
  • Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral, and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
  • Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
  • Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well‑being of the patient.

What we're looking for

Applicants should have a current Michigan RN license and possess an associate's degree from an accredited nursing school (bachelor's preferred).
