Job summary

UP Health System - Marquette, located in Michigan, is seeking an experienced OR RN to join a fast-paced, collaborative operating room team. The role offers 6 x 10-hour shifts with varied start times, rotating weekends and holidays, and a 0.75 FTE (60 hours per pay period) schedule.

Qualifications

• Current Michigan RN license.
• Associate degree from an accredited nursing program; Bachelor's preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs plan of care interventions including medication administration, specimen collection, and clinical treatments.
• Documents patient care provided and monitors patient condition.
• Communicates with care team, physicians, patients and families about patient status.
• Assists with activities of daily living and patient mobility.
• Coordinates patient transfers, discharges, referrals, and psychosocial support as needed.
• Assesses learning needs of patient/family and provides age-appropriate education.
• Acts as advocate for the patient's physical and emotional well-being.

More About Our Team

Our high performing Operating Room (OR) team is a collaborative, fast paced department. OR nurses work side by side with surgical teams to deliver safe, high quality care, supported by strong communication, teamwork, and a shared commitment to excellent patient outcomes.

The OR features 12 procedure rooms and offers 8, 10, and 12 hour shift options based on unit needs. Call requirements include one night per week and one weekend per month. Weekend and holiday rotations are established and mapped out annually, providing predictability and work life balance.

How You'll Contribute

• Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.
• Documents patient care given.
• Monitors, records, and communicate patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
• Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral, and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
• Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
• Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.

What We're Looking For

Applicants should have a current Michigan RN license and possess an associate's degree from an accredited nursing school (bachelor's preferred).
