Job summary

Butler Hospital, part of Care New England, is seeking a dedicated registered nurse to provide direct patient care in a psychiatric/mental health setting, following the RI Nurse Practice Act.

The role emphasizes collaboration with the treatment team, medication administration, and discharge planning, with potential to assume Charge Nurse duties during shifts.

Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited school of nursing.
• B.S.N. preferred.
• Current RI nursing license.

Responsibilities

• Participates in treatment planning to coordinate medical and nursing care and discharge planning of patients.
• Coordinates psychiatric and/or medical emergencies to ensure proper care and overall patient safety.
• Participates as a team member by assisting staff and taking on assignments to complete patient care and unit responsibilities.
• Administers medications with knowledge of action, side effects, and contraindications.
• Assumes the role of Charge Nurse for the shift.

Provides direct patient care based on the knowledge of ANA Standards of Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing, Butler Hospital policies and procedures, and the RI Nurse Practice Act.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Participates in treatment planning to coordinate management of medical and nursing care and discharge planning of their patients.
• Coordinates Psychiatric and/or Medical emergencies in such a manner that assures that the individual in crisis is properly cared for and that all other patients are safe.
• Participates as an active team member by assisting other staff and accepting additional assignments to complete essential patient care and unit responsibilities.
• Administers medications with knowledge of action, mode of administration, side effects, and contraindications.
• Assumes role of Charge Nurse for the shift.

Requirements

• Graduate of accredited school of nursing.
• B.S.N preferred.
• Current RI nursing license.
